NXNE Song of the Day: Young Magic – You With Air

NXNE is nearly upon us! This means sleepless nights, quickly writing reviews whilst show hopping and working the day job. It also means pre-festival playlists! Currently on rotation is Young Magic’s newest album “Melt”. It can best be described as a collage of music. Hitting the low-fi grungy sound with reverberated vocals and working its way through an electro R n’B; the track “You With Air”, melts genres, and did I just hear a sitar sample? Also the song makes you feel like you’re in Super Mario World, boss’ castle (at least it makes me feel like that). I’m truly intrigued to see how this is going to go over live, as I have not had the pleasure of seeing them live yet.

Young Magic are playing at Wrongbar, Thursday June 14 at 11pm, and I will be pretty much parked there all night after White Rabbits at Mod Club. You can see them, EXITMUSIC, The Hundred in The Hands and Purity Ring (solid lineup), all at Wrongbar that night.
