SXSW Review: Prides, March 10, Latitude

prides

On the heels of the massive success that Scottish synth group CHVRCHES accumulated last year, it should be of no surprise that a bevy of like minded groups hit the SXSW music sphere this year.

Prides is a synth group trio from Scotland and from what I heard at their showcase on Monday, they are pretty much ready to take on the world. Specializing in soaring anthemic synth driven tracks, the group seems to have pre-built their music for a much larger venue then that of the Latitude house. It would all seem rather pretentious if it wasn’t for the fact that the two leads play their tunes with such intensity and passion.

For a band that only formed last year, it is startling how many good tracks they have already accumulated. I counted at least two radio friendly ready made singles out of the tracks they performed. The future looks very bright for this group. Check out this single and tell me otherwise.
