Project Nowhere Review: N NAO, October 5, The Baby G

“It’s all new songs. We’re breaking the ice.”

So said N NAO, aka Naomie de Lorimier, at the outset of her Saturday night show at The Baby G on the final night of Project Nowhere. The Montreal-based musician would go on to play a set focusing on the material from her upcoming third album Nouveau Langage, out January 31st, 2025 via Mothland.

Accompanied by another musician on electronics, guitar, and whatever else the songs may have called for, de Lorimier put on a beautiful and immersive performance that often leaned toward the atmospheric and ethereal but could also veer into full on dance floor banger territory at times. N NAO’s music has been described as experimental pop, a fairly accurate description of her sound, which blends glitchy electronica and industrial soundscapes with elements of more traditional pop music. Overall, it makes for a very unique experience.
