It has been exactly one year now since I saw my last official concert and man, am I missing live music.

Yes, one year ago today, I saw Melbourne’s Ali Barter performing a set at The Drake Hotel as part of a tour that would soon be unceremoniously cut short and even though it was already starting to feel a little weird to be at a show back then, (the crowd was looking a bit sparse, though that could have been as much because it was a Monday night as it was due to COVID fears) it was a great set. And other than an outdoor B.A. Johnston performance last summer (which counts as its own weird and wonderful thing separate from everything else) I haven’t seen a live show since.

It’s certainly a bittersweet anniversary to mark, but I’ll mark it anyways, with hopes that in a year from now, we’ll all be out and seeing live music again. Or if you’re Australian, you can likely see Barter herself relatively soon, since they’re already doing live shows again. In the meantime, here’s a video for Ali Barter’s “Twisted Up”, released this past November. Check it out.
